Yazzo’s On Cinder Track

I haven’t had the chance to do my 800m repeats on the track until today. The track at the high school is rubberized and really nice. I didn’t want to wait until after school hours to run, so I ran up the Evergreen field and used the cinder track there. There’s a bit of slippage that occurs, and I’m sure it impacts speed. It’s better than the treadmill though.

After reading Daniel’s Running Formula, I’ve decided to try running my 800 m slower. My marathon goal time is 3:50. So today I tried to run 3:45 for my Yazzo’s. 1)3:47 2)3:43 3)3:44 4) 3:45. I jogged 400 m in between repeats. I’m still a little tired from Saturday’s race. I think I could’ve done a couple more repeats, but didn’t push it.

Yazzo 800 x 6

I really need to get to the track for these workouts, but it keeps snowing.  There’s no way I can get in a good workout in the Seattle slush.  I feel good that I was able to do 6 repeats (800m).  I was tired, but I did them at 8.4 (3:34 pace) instead of 8.5 (3:30)  Thanks for the advice Kip

Yazzo’s - 5

I had a cancellation this morning, because of the icy conditions. Seattle was hit with a little snow. People tend to cancel and take their time getting to work on days like today. I hit the gym with my playlist from Michelle (some sort of rap stuff with Prince, Christina Aguilara and Justin Timberlake). My goal was to do 6 Yazzo’s (800 meter repeats). I tried doing them at 8.6 (6:58 pace). I think this was too fast because I pooped out and only got 5. I had to slow down to 8.5 (7:03 pace). I want to be able to complete the workout, so next time I won’t be so ambitious with the pace. Maybe then I’ll get 6.
