Did a little spinning tonight. I want to get back into cycling a bit. I’m thinking about doing a duathlon in September. So, I’d better start riding…..

I haven’t been on my bike since the Kirkland Triathlon last summer. I was a little worried that I’d be really sore going from zero to 50 miles. I actually feel pretty good today. It was good to get out there with Mitch, Shelley and Phil and go for an easy ride. We stopped at Starbucks and enjoyed the day.

This weekend has been an eating and drinking fest! I got up this morning before my house guests and went to the gym again. Hopefully, 45 minutes on the bike will un-do some of the damage! Apparently, when a couple celebrates 50 years of marriage, the celebration lasts for at least 4 days. Today, my goal is to drink a lot of water and re-group……

As I am getting back into working out, I’ve taken to joining my clients during their cardio. Richard and I did some cycling and I felt strong. However, I was in bed sleeping a little after 8 pm again. I can’t believe how tired I am!

I cancelled my appointments this morning because we had about 4 inches of the white stuff. School was cancelled. That’s what we do here in Seattle if there is any kind of accumulation.
I watched Will and Grace and rode the exercise bike. It was a good day for a little cross-training. Murphy our new Golden Retriever didn’t quite know what to make of the snow.

I ran on the treadmill between clients today. Then took Kurt and Nikki through a 25 minute cycle routine. I haven’t cycled since September.

Rode my spin bike and watched a movie with Chris Rock On-demand. I wanted to get in some cycling, but didn’t feel like riding outside. Â
We had a big dinner party last night and I was tired this morning. My parents are visiting from Colorado. I am fighting off a cold, so I’m pounding the Airborne.Â

Although I got a late start, I’ve been a serious runner since 1994. I ran my first marathon in 1995 on my 30th Birthday. It’s been my goal to run the Boston Marathon since then. I missed qualifying by 12 minutes that year. I needed to run 3:40 and ran 3:52. Running in the most prestigious marathon, is the ultimate for most runners. The fact that you have to qualify, only fueled my competitive juices.
Over the next 9 years I ran 6 more marathons. I love running so much that I became a personal trainer and running coach in 2001. I continued to train and came within 4 minutes of my goal in 2003, when I ran 3:49. I was seriously hoping to qualify in 2004, but it didn’t happen. I had flare ups of plantar fasciitis off and on since I began running. In 2006 I ran 5 half marathons.  Apparently this was too much for my body to handle. My plantar fasciitis became acute. I had to take time off to heal. (more...) | Bike: | 429 | miles |
