Last night I went to a barbeque at my sister’s, enjoyed a lovely salmon dinner with some wine. We ended up playing poker and staying up late and drinking more wine. When the alarm went off at 6 am this morning, I wasn’t looking forward to going down and meeting the Lucy Group for the Swedish Summer Run. Unfortunately, when you’re the coach you have to show up. Don’t get me wrong. I love running/racing and training with people. The problem I have is that I have a hard time saying no to a party. Sometimes you have to pay the piper….
I rallied and went down to the start and hung out at Starbucks after I registered. I tried to drink a lot of water last night and this morning to prevent the inevitable headache, but I felt a little nauseus. Historically, the weather is in the 70’s at least for this run. Today was the exception. I pulled on my running jacket and even wore sweats until the last minute. When the weather gets bad, people tend to cancel. Robyn has been running with me since 2001, rain or shine. I can always count on her and she can count on me. She was okay with me being a bit hungover today because it evened things out for us, i.e. slowed me down. I was happy to run an easy pace today, although I had to sprint at the end to break 30 minutes. I guess I still have a competitive streak…
