Pilates Ab Work Out

My feet are feeling a little tired. I bought a new pair of shoes today, just to prevent injuries. Replacing shoes frequently is one of the best things you can do to stay injury free. My 20 mile race is coming up on Saturday. Phil and Natasha are gone all weekend at a volleyball tournament. I’m hanging out with Chris and Murphy, just trying to carb up and get hydrated for Saturday.

The weather has been sunny one moment and cloudy and cold the next. I got on the treadmill today and it was drizzly. By the time I left the gym it was 50 degrees and somewhat sunny. Go figure! At least I got my work out in.

Lake Union Loop

I met Andrea for a run this morning. We ran from Green Lake down to Lake Union, did the loop and came back up Stone Way. I felt pretty good. The hill was tough on the way back, but easier than the last time I did it. I finished up with some walking and went for coffee. Good work out. I think I am ready for the 20 mile race next week.

This Place Has Gone To The Dogs!

Murphy and Lola have been having a marvelous time the last 4 days. We are dog-sitting for some friends. Our dog Murphy is a 4 month old Golden Retriever. Lola is an 8 month old Black Lab. They play like crazy. Occasionally, they lay down and take a break, but for the most part they are going full blast. It’s like having two pre-schooler children 24/7. I’m sitting her blogging and I look down to discover that they found a notebook that needed shredding. By the time I noticed it, I thought okay, I guess I’ll just let them have their fun. Sometimes you have to go with the flow.

10 Miles In Kirkland

I started out on Market Street with a down hill start. I need to incorporate downhill running into my routine because there is some down hill for the first half of the Boston Marathon. I intended to only run 6 miles and then thought that if I just added a couple of miles then I’d get my 10 miler in and free up some time on the weekend. I ran into downtown Bellevue and up 100th, which is a bit of a grade, then down 24th and back down Bellevue Way. I ended up getting in a lot of hills. I feel good about the pace. My longer runs have been a little slower lately. I’ve been working pace on the races in the Resolution Series. Next week is the final race in the series, a 20 miler. I hope to feel as good as I felt today next Saturday. :)

Treadmill Run

My ankle is a little swollen still, but it doesn’t really hurt. I’m icing it and taking ibuprofen. All in all I am feeling pretty good.

I warmed up with a 8:45 mile and did 4 miles at 8 min pace. If I feel good, I’ll do some Yasso 800’s on Thursday. The week end is looking busy, so I may need to do my long run on Friday.

The following week is my 20 mile race. It’s amazing how fast the training is going. I’m just following my schedule and trying to listen to my body. If I don’t feel up to a speed work out, then I modify the work out and do a moderate run.

Strength Training

I did a little Elliptical and some strength training. My left ankle is a little swollen. I think I need to seek out softer running surfaces this week.

Neighborhood Run

It’s kind of nice running only 9 miles today instead of 19. I’ve dropped a couple more pounds, 8 altogether. It feels good to pull on my jeans. Being a little lighter helped with my last race. I thought my pace would slow from 10 to 15 miles, but it didn’t. I feel like I’m starting to get into my zone. I am thinking about my race plan. I’m 43 days out from Boston. :)
