Although I got a late start, I’ve been a serious runner since 1994. I ran my first marathon in 1995 on my 30th Birthday. It’s been my goal to run the Boston Marathon since then. I missed qualifying by 12 minutes that year. I needed to run 3:40 and ran 3:52. Running in the most prestigious marathon, is the ultimate for most runners. Hello Lisa, I am Greatful that you liked my story, We all have our own and I really loved yours.
When I face challenges weather it’s running related or not I still read My story and think back to when I thought all was lost and I had nothing to hope for but hope itself, I know from a first hand experience that if our body and mind are aligned in the same goal every challenge is is only a small bump in the road.
Lisa I see you left me a question back on Mar 8. I found this web site and signed up for it but did not check any messages until today. I started to try to start training on Easter could not sleep so I got up and went for a bike ride. I just got back from another one today. To answer your question I have not been able to find a sprint race in my area, I am trying to find something so that I have a deadline to shoot for. I have never done anything like this before, but I just want a goal to help me stay on track for getting into shape, Thanks for you comment..
I’m a Marine so I’ve always ran, but nothing that would be considered serious training. I downloaded Hal Higdeon’s running program for half marathons and I’m following that for the next 12 weeks.
Thanks Lisa. I’m a little nervous because this is my first event ever. The support from people like you is amazing!
You are lucky..listen to your body. I had to drop out of Boston due to constant knee problems..sigh..but I will be there to cheer everyone on!!
