Hilly, Windy, Rainy…Good Training
When it’s nasty out and I get out and train, I am making myself stronger. At least that is what I told myself this morning. I’m just trying to keep a steady effort.
I put in a couple of longish runs over the holiday, so that I wouldn’t have to start from scratch. I’m getting into the mindset of training. No more junk food, drinking lots of water! We’ll see how I do tomorrow when I run 12 miles with Mitch and Shelley. It’s good to have buddies for the long stuff!

I think it’s great how fast you run! I was on the treadmill today and got to a 8:00 mile pace for 1 minute and was out of breathe and heart pounding. I’m still around the 10:00 mile pace, but have proved in once race at least I can get under 9 minutes!
Thanks for the inspiration!
Running in bad weather is my “secret weapon.” If it is terrible out, I just lie to myself and say “I’m just going to go out and do three miles; I’ll be back inside in about 25 minutes.” Then, I get out there, realize it’s not that bad, and usually manage 4 to 6. Then, the next time it is crappy out, it’s not so hard to get out the door. For some reason, this doesn’t work with hot weather though.
I hear you!
