Last Group Run - Vive Las Vegas!
Today we really lucked out! The rain didn’t really start until we were finished with the run. Paul has been sidelined with some knee pain and bursitis. He took several weeks off, and came out to run today. Tina put in a solid run. Steve broke 2 hours, which was his goal. Yea Steve! Michelle came out a little later and ran to catch up with us, then smoked us at the end. All in all it was a good day. We did a stagger start so that we finished close to the same time. Everyone is ready for Vegas!

Although I got a late start, I’ve been a serious runner since 1994. I ran my first marathon in 1995 on my 30th Birthday. It’s been my goal to run the Boston Marathon since then. I missed qualifying by 12 minutes that year. I needed to run 3:40 and ran 3:52. Running in the most prestigious marathon, is the ultimate for most runners. The fact that you have to qualify, only fueled my competitive juices.
Over the next 9 years I ran 6 more marathons. I love running so much that I became a

Now wait a second… if you’ve just run 13.1 miles… then, well… didn’t you run your half marathon?
I almost feel cheated that I didn’t run 26.2 in my training for my marathon!
I guess the real question is, did Phil ever WALK 13.1 miles?
I actually was thinking of joining you on the run yesterday a I was scheduled for a 12-miler. However, I didn’t wake up until 7:45! I then dawdled for a couple of hours. When I finally was ready to head out (I was all dressed, had my bags packed for lunch afterwards) I looked out at the downpour. Yuck! So being the wuss I am I postponed the run until today.
Glad to hear your last long run went well!
Yeah, yeah! We did a half marathon. I don’t think that makes us cheaters though.
The difference in running 13.1 and running 26.2 is immense. We’ll recover from this effort and be ready for Vegas. If you actually ran 26.2, you’d need a couple of weeks before you could run the distance again at race pace, without risking injury.
Phil walked the Leavenworth Half Marathon in October.
Great run!! You are gonna smoke the Vegas Half!
Thanks! I just hope we all have a great race.
