Coming Back From Plantar Fasciitis
I am keeping my fingers crossed! I talked to my coach today and she suggested going out for a run to see how my heel is doing. I went for an easy run on the Burke-Gilman Trail. I stayed on the grass or gravel and avoided the pavement.
I made it 3 miles in a little under 25 minutes. I tried to hold back my pace and run easy. I am amazed to say that it felt good. I didn’t have any real pain. I stretched afterwards.
It’s been a little over 4 weeks since my last run. My coach suggested that if I still felt pain, to discontinue the run and go back to my podiatrist for a cortisone shot. So far, so good. I will wait a few days and do another easy run.
There’s hope!!!!!
Although I got a late start, I’ve been a serious runner since 1994. I ran my first marathon in 1995 on my 30th Birthday. It’s been my goal to run the Boston Marathon since then. I missed qualifying by 12 minutes that year. I needed to run 3:40 and ran 3:52. Running in the most prestigious marathon, is the ultimate for most runners. The fact that you have to qualify, only fueled my competitive juices.
